And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do [it].

Committed to thy servants.Given into the hand of thy servants; viz. the overseers of the repairs.

And Shaphan brought the book in unto the king is only a different pointing of, and Shaphan the scribe came in unto the king, 2Ki. 22:9. The rest of the verse is an addition of the chroniclers. Perhaps the Notes on 2Ki. 12:11 and 2chron xxiv, 11 apply hero.
