They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

They would none of my counsel; they refused to be guided by my counsels or precepts.

They would none of my counsel,…. Neither his doctrines nor his ordinances; nor would they attend to the wholesome counsel and advice he gave them in his sermons upon the mount, and in other discourses of his at other times and places;

they despised all my reproof; for their hypocrisy, uncleanness, covetousness, and other sins they were addicted to; see Mt 23:1; but they “derided” him for it, Lu 16:14; where the same word is used as is by the Septuagint here. These things are repeated from Pr 1:25, to observe their ingratitude, and how just was their ruin, and what the true cause of it.

30. Would Used here, as in Pro 1:25, as a principal verb, the preterite of will. They willed, determined, not to have my counsel.

Ver. 30. They would none of my counsel. ] These are condemned and menaced, as well as those that despised or execrated God’s reproof. So also in the precedent verse, not only they that “hated knowledge,” but that “did not choose the fear of the Lord.”
