So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put [it] on my loins.

According to the word of the Lord; that is, according to Gods command.

And put it on my loins; and used it as God commanded me, never disputing the reason why God bid me do such a thing.

Jer 13:2. The prophet obeyed the instructions and it is important that what he did was according to the word of the Lord. Inspired prophets were subject to divine regulation notwithstanding their special qualification.
