Exegetical and Hermeneutical Commentary of Leviticus 16:25
And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
25. And shall he burn ] The position of this verse has been the subject of much comment. In Lev 16:11-19 no definite instruction has been given to burn the fat portions of the Sin-Offerings, but the manner in which the blood of the victims should be applied for the purification of the sanctuary and altar has been fully described. A supplementary notice has been inserted here, apparently in order that this important part of the ceremonial should be mentioned.

And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar. The brazen altar of burnt offering, and so says Jarchi, on the outward altar; for of the inward (i.e. the altar of incense) it is written, ye shall not offer upon it strange incense, nor a burnt offering, nor a meat offering; and this fat he explains to be what was on the inwards of both the bullock and the goat; and so says Aben Ezra, the fat of the bullock for the sin offering, and the fat of the goat for a sin offering, and also the fat of the kid of the goat, which, was a sin offering for the priest, Nu 29:11; this fat was burnt at the same time the burnt offerings were offered in Le 16:24.

(25) And the fat of the sin offering. That is, the fat of the inwards of both the bullock (see Lev. 16:6) and the goat (see Lev. 16:15), which constituted the sin offering, as well as the fat of the other goat, which was the priests sin offering, was to be burnt upon the brazen altar of burnt offering in the courtyard. (See Lev. 4:8-10.)

“And the fat of the purification for sin offering shall he burn on the altar.”
Then he offers the fat of the purification for sin offering by burning it on the altar. The fat is always Yahweh’s, an indication that the best was for Him.

Can anything more strikingly describe the defiling nature of sin, than what these verses represent of ceremonial uncleanness? So far we see were these sacrifices and offerings incompetent to take away sin, that the very use of them demanded further cleansing. Our most holy things are all unholy, and all require cleansing in the blood of JESUS. The apostle’s arguments upon these things are final and decisive: Heb 10:1-4 . But how satisfactory doth the same apostle add the perfect forgiveness of sins by the oblation of JESUS? Heb 10:14 .
