He shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord,…. To the priest of the Lord, to offer it for him; he, and not she, as the Targum of Jonathan has it; [See comments on Le 19:20]:

unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; where all offerings were to be brought, Le 17:4;

[even] a ram for a trespass offering; which was the usual creature for such a sacrifice, Le 5:15; the woman was not obliged to bring any, she being a bondmaid; and so having nothing of her own, but what was her master’s, her circumstances are considered, and scourging was sufficient.

(21) And he shall bring his trespass offering.Unlike the woman, the man had to bring this sacrifice under any circumstances, whether he sinned ignorantly or presumptuously. She was exempted from offering a sacrifice because she was her masters property, and not being her own, she had no property.

Unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.Better, to the entrance of the tent of meeting, whither all the sacrifices were brought. (See Lev. 17:4-5.) The ram here prescribed was the usual animal for such a sacrifice. (See Lev. 5:17-18.)

21. Trespass offering See 6-13, notes. Also, chap. v, Introductory. This offering was always special, as 1.) for sacrilege in ignorance, Lev 5:15; Lev 16:2.) for ignorant infraction of some definite prohibition, Lev 5:17 to Lev 19:3.) for fraud, concealing the truth, or perjury, Lev 6:1-4.) at the purification of a leper, Lev 14:12, and the polluted Nazarite, Num 6:12 and 5.) for the seduction of a betrothed slave. The only exception to this use of ahsham is in Isa 53:10.
