And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.
46. And the remnant, &c.] This passage, down to the end of 1Ki 22:49, is omitted by the ( Vat.) LXX.
which remained in the days of his father ] Asa had striven to put them down. See 1Ki 15:12 above.
he took [R.V. put away ] out of the land ] ‘To put away’ is by far the most frequent rendering of the verb. See concerning a similar proceeding 2Ki 23:24.

Verse 46. The remnant of the sodomites] of the consecrated persons; or it may rather apply here to the system of pollution, effeminacy, and debauch. He destroyed the thing itself; the abominations of Priapus, and the rites of Venus, Baal, and Ashtaroth. No more of that impure worship was to be found in Judea.

Ver. 46. And the remnant of the sodomites. ] Called Cedeshim by antiphrasis; and Meritorii quia mercentur et quaestum faciunt corpore: prostituendo illud vitio ad explendam libidinem. This is “filthy lucre,” indeed.
