28. Zadok ] In 1Ch 27:17 he seems to occupy the position assigned to Jehoiada in 1Ch 12:27. Perhaps he succeeded him.

(28) And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour.And Zadok, a youth, a valiant warrior. Perhaps the successor of Abiathar (1Ki. 2:26-27; 1Ki. 4:4), and his father-house (family), princes twenty and two. The sub-clan or family of Eleazar must have been strong at this time to be able to furnish all these captains, and their implied companies of warriors. But the sum total of the Levites is not given.

Ver. 28. And Zadok, a young man. ] Some think that Saul, when he had slain Abimelech, made this Zadok high priest in his stead. He was of the right line, and restored thirty-three or four years after this by king Solomon.
