And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as [did] the house of Ahab: for he [was] the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
27. he walked in the way of the house of Ahab ] The Chronicler adds ‘for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly’.
and did evil ] R.V. that which was evil. The usual change, which will not again be noticed.

He was the proper son of Athaliah, daughter of Ahab, and the grandson-in-law of Ahab, because his father was Ahabs son-in-law, 2Ki 8:18.

27. He walked in the way of the house of Ahab “For,” says 2Ch 22:3, “his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.” The same wicked woman led both his father and himself into ruin.
He was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab He, like his father, had married a wife of the daughters of Omri, so that he “was connected with the house of Ahab by a double tie of mother and wife.” Wordsworth.
