And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told [this] unto the magicians; but [there was] none that could declare [it] to me.

24. the thin ears devoured the sevengood earsdevoured is a different word from that used inGe 41:4 and conveys the idea ofdestroying, by absorbing to themselves all the nutritious virtue ofthe soil around them.
