1) “If any man have ears to hear,” (interpolated, not in older manuscripts) an echo from Mar 7:14. This emphasizes personal responsibility and accountability for each to decide on moral and spiritual matters, Ecc 11:9; Ecc 12:13-14.
2) “Let him hear,” (interpolated) added by transIators to clarify, meaning let him hear,” give heed of his own accord, as a responsible accountable person, Rom 14:11-12.

(16) If any man have ears to hear.It was with this formula that our Lord had closed some at least of His parables (Mar. 4:9, Mat. 13:10). And it was probably this that led to the form which the inquiry of the disciples took when they came to ask their Master concerning the parable. The whole verse is, however, omitted in many of the best MSS., and may have been originally a marginal note written by some early transcriber to call attention to the truth stated in the text.

‘If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.’
This verse is omitted by a few good authorities (including Aleph and B) but has strong support. It may well have been accidentally omitted in copying (see Mar 4:23), or alternatively introduced to emphasise the importance of what was being said. It will be noted that it is supported by the balance of the passage and by the usual Marcan chiastic pattern. It emphasises the importance of the truth that Jesus had just expressed and demands response to it as something to be carefully followed through. He did not just want people to consider a technical point, He wanted men to consider the state of their inner hearts. It reinforces ‘take notice of me all of you’ (compare Mar 4:3 together with Mar 4:9).

Mar 7:16 is not found in some early manuscripts. The words were a common close to instruction difficult to understand.
