The ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
11. Jeshua ] This is the Hebrew name expressed by in Greek, and by “Jesus” in English. The highpriest under whom the Temple was built bore this name according to Ezr 3:2; Ezr 5:2.
Shecaniah ] So Neh 12:3; but ib. Neh 10:4, Neh 12:14 “Shebaniah.” The confusion of B and C is very easy in Hebrew.

Shecaniah.1Ch. 3:21. This was a common name in the post-exilic age (Iah is a neighbour).
