27. by Jaaziah; Beno and Shoham ] Translate (with a slight emendation of the Heb. text): by Jaaziah his son: Shoham. Three families traced their descent from Merari through Jaaziah.

(27) Shoham (onyx) and Ibri (Hebrew) do not occur as individual names elsewhere, but there is no reason to doubt their genuineness.

Some commentators pronounce 1Ch. 24:26-27, spurious, against the evidence of the ancient versions.
