Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which [was] in the seventh month.
3. the feast ] i.e. the Feast of Tabernacles.
in the seventh month ] In 1 Kings the name of the month is given as Ethanim, but this word was perhaps obsolete when the Chronicler wrote; at any rate we know that in post-biblical times the seventh month was called Tisri.

Ver. 3. In the seventh month. ] Called Ethanim: haply from the many festivals therein observed. And Solomon fitly taketh that time for the dedication of the temple.

(b) When the things were dedicated and brought into the temple.
(c) Called in Hebrew Ethanim, containing part of September and part of October, 1Ki 8:2 , which moves the Jews called the first month, because they say that the world was created in that month, and after they came from Egypt, they began at March: but because this opinion is uncertain, we always make March the first as the best writers do.
