Exegetical and Hermeneutical Commentary of Numbers 33:44

Exegetical and Hermeneutical Commentary of Numbers 33:44

And they departed from Oboth, and pitched in Ije-abarim, in the border of Moab.

STAT. XXXVII.

Verse 44. IJE-ABARIM.] The heaps of Abarim. See Nu 21:11. Situation uncertain. It is called Iim in the following verse. As the word signifies heaps or protuberances, it probably means tumuil or small hills near some of the fords of Jordan.

‘And they journeyed from Oboth, and encamped in Iye-abarim, in the border of Moab.’

For this compare Num 21:11. It is apparent that the list has the histories in mind.
