And the king of Israel called for one [of his] officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

8. called for one of his officers ] R.V. called an officer. The Heb. word means “eunuch.” From 1Sa 8:15 we may perhaps conclude that such officers were known in Israel from the very beginning of the monarchy. Cp. 1Ch 28:1, note.
