Having finished the measuring of the east gate, and showed the prophet the sameness of the north gates buildings, measures, and ornaments, now he is informed of the south gate, and its exact symmetry with the other two, which consult in Eze 40:5-11.

The south; the south point of heaven.

A gate toward the south; south part of the house.

The posts and the arches: see Eze 40:16,21,22.

After that he brought me toward the south,…. Having taken the dimensions of the east and north gates, the prophet was had on the south side of the building:

and behold a gate toward the south; that led to the southern part of this fabric, and to the outward court there, exactly like the other two; there was no difference in them, which raised the prophet’s wonder and attention; for, as Lipman k says, there was no outward court in the second temple, but to the east of the inward; and it did not encompass the other sides; and so the more wonderful:

and he measured the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according, to these measures; the measures of the east and north gates, which were just alike; for these all signified but one gateway or door into the church below, into heaven above, or into the presence of God here and hereafter, which is Christ, Joh 14:6.

NASB (UPDATED) TEXT: Eze 40:24-27

24Then he led me toward the south, and behold, there was a gate toward the south; and he measured its side pillars and its porches according to those same measurements. 25The gate and its porches had windows all around like those other windows; the length was fifty cubits and the width twenty-five cubits. 26There were seven steps going up to it, and its porches were in front of them; and it had palm tree ornaments on its side pillars, one on each side. 27The inner court had a gate toward the south; and he measured from gate to gate toward the south, a hundred cubits.
